Through the Used Tires Stewardship Program that launched on September 1, 2009, Ontario Tire Stewardship has been giving old tires new life, by supporting the 3R’s:

  • Reducing the amount of tires that end up in landfills
  • Reusing the materials by ensuring they go to tire recyclers
  • Recycling scrap tires into eco-friendly products

Beyond supporting Ontario’s 3R efforts, OTS also:

  • Eliminates the illegal dumping of scrap tires
  • Prevents tires from being burned
  • Cleans-up tire piles in and around Ontario
  • Promotes safe methods of recycling scrap tires
  • Helps grow Ontario’s tire recycling industry
  • Encourages investment in green industries and markets

As of 2010  there are over 6,300 registered tire collectors in Ontario who collect and recycle used tires! Read more in our  Annual Report

Consumers can drop off of their used tires free of charge at one of the many  Registered Collectors across Ontario.

The Ontario Tire Stewardship is an Industry Funding Organization (IFO) incorporated under Ontario’s Waste Diversion Act.
